At Be Active With Alison, I started my journey with a simple goal: to help people live healthier, happier and more active lives.
This started after my own journey that took me from being overweight, unfit, unhealthy and not as happy as I could be, to living a healthier and more
active life while still eating the foods I enjoy , still socialising and eating out and doing activities that I never thought would be possible.
I'm not quite where I want to be but I'm a long way from where I never want to be again.
I've learned that this isn't a quick fix but a lifestyle change and a lifestyle choice. I have chosen to change the way I live and I have never regretted it.
Since the start of my journey, I've grown into someone who enjoys exercising and being active and is passionate about supporting others who want to achieve the same.

I finally found a way that suited me. I found a way to lose weight that was sustainable and helped me build a healthy relationship with food. I also found a love for exercise and being active.

I can support you in your weight loss journey. Not with faddy or restrictive diets but with calorie counting that lets you eat and drink all the things you enjoy (but in moderation) while helping you to discover a healthy relationship with food that will build healthy habits that last a lifetime. I can work out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), the minimum number of calories you need to maintain safe body functions for breathing, digestion and blood flow. I can also calculate your safe and sustainable calorie deficit. (Please do not go from the ones the calorie counting Apps give you.They are notoriously too low.)
You will need a calorie counting app such as Nutracheck or My Fitness Pal at your own cost.

Being active doesn't just mean going for a run or joining a gym. It can do, if that's your thing but there are so many ways to keep active that are enjoyable, easy and sometimes free.
Go for a walk, do some gardening, join a walking group or an exercise class. What's important is that you keep active. That saying we've all heard, 'use it or lose it', is true, especially the older we get. I love the confidence that losing weight and getting fit and active has given me.
I'm now doing activities in my 50's that I've always wanted to do in my younger days but instead of joining in with friends and family, I'd make excuses and just watch them having fun.
I can help you find activities and exercise that you can enjoy or rediscover the activities that you used to enjoy. One step at a time.
I can work with you as we put together a realistic and achievable fitness or activity program that you will enjoy. You are more likely to stick at something if you enjoy it.
