You don't have to go to an exercise class or the gym to be active. There are so many other ways of moving and being active which will help to keep you physically and mentally fit and healthy while also having fun. It's true what they say about "use it or lose it' so it's so important that we find ways to keep ourselves active doing things that we actually enjoy. If you still want to be able to walk up that hill when you're 70, then you need to keep yourselves moving now.
If you enjoy something, you are more likely to keep on doing it.
So, I'm going to start writing about all the things I enjoy doing to keep myself physically and mentally active and healthy. I don't particularly enjoy cycling but that's not to say I won't get my bike out and go for a ride. The same goes for swimming and I can't run anymore due to a back issue I have, but there are so many other pursuits I enjoy, such as walking, hiking, exercise to music, strength and conditioning workouts, pilates and walking rugby. All will get me moving, increase my heart rate, get me out meeting new people and promote my physical and mental health.
I still intend to be climbing those mountains in the Lake District when I'm 70, which is still actually quite a few years away!
